Zemanta Open Semantic API with commercial support

Posted by jure, under releases on December 9th, 2008

Our mission of creating better content faster and easier has reached another important milestone today with release of Zemanta Open Semantic API with commercial support. This means that from today on, there’s an easy way for Developers to integrate our technology in their products.

Our API is ideal for user generated content and startups creating in this field. We already have a number of them using us, including: Faviki, Freebase, SezWho and uberVU.

We also went a step further and released an SDK of our JavaScript based technologies, that power Zemanta Blogging Widget. This makes it easy for other blogging software creators and CMS authors to integrate our smart recommendations.

Visit our API page: http://www.zemanta.com/api/ for full details or go directly to http://developer.zemanta.com to read our developer documentation.

  • Keep up the great work z-team, I've absolutely loved using your tools and playing with the API for quite a while now.
  • Again, I wonder how/when it will be possible to extend the reach of Zemanta to other languages?
  • andraz
Technically it is possible. As a start-up we just don't want to spread our resources too thin. If a strong business case comes up, we'd consider it.

Oh, I almost forgot. Our friends at Faviki managed to get Zemanta API work on foreign languages by some cool mashing up:

    Anyone can do that... :)
  • Smart move.

I have said for some time that tagging of the Web needs to happen at a tool level, allowing app builders and developers to bake the approach into the platform level.

This move reinforces the migration of semantics from the icing layer (publishing) to the infrastructure of the web.
  • Do you have any plan to make zemanta supports Chinese?
  • andraz
Everything is possible if there is a strong business case for it (a strong partner for example).
  • Could you tell me how long it will take you to support Chinese if you plan to support.
  • andraz
It would take a strong business partner from China to show up, so we would have a business reason to do it.
  • Congrats...Keep up the good work.
