As of today, Zemanta, the ultimate blogging assistant, is available to all of you as a part of the WordPress.com platform.

We are proud to announce the launch of our partnership with the most advanced and acclaimed blogging platform in the world and we believe that with it we will contribute to better and easier blogging for everyone.

We’ve worked closely with the Automattic team to tailor and optimize the user experience. Hey all,

using the Chrome Extension allows you to play with your preferences and
settings. So yes, the difference is that turning it on in wp.com will make
you lose the Preferences panel. The benefit is that Zemanta is just there,
which ever computer you log on with.

hi ileane,

the wordpress.com version doesn’t recommend tags and doesn’t have your personal preferences, so if you use custom sources or flickr account for instance, that will not get transfered. otherwise they are essentially the same.

This is really great news for WordPress.com bloggers like myself. I have a question though. Will it make a difference if I use the Chrome Extension or turn on the option in WordPress.com? I think all of the blogging platforms that I use have Zemanta now, including Blogger and WordPress, so maybe I should disable the extension in Chrome.
