Replacement for Yahoo Term Extraction API
Posted by andraz, under zemanta on August 11th, 2009
Yahoo is shutting down their Yahoo Term Extraction API. Developers are now looking for a replacement that would extract important keywords, tags, terms and entities from plain text or HTML.
Here’s the one we kindly suggest: Zemanta API
Zemanta API offers you everything that Term Extractor did and partly what Yahoo Contextual Web Search did:
- keyword extraction / auto tagging
- entity and concept extraction and disambiguation
- categorization (into big taxonomy)
- related image search
- related article search
All this smart information can be used for SEO keyword optimization, smart content organization, semantic internal search and more. If you want term extraction we have Python, Java, C#, Ruby, Perl and PHP examples.
We are sad to hear about Yahoo keyword extractor shutdown, but happy to provide an alternative. It was one of many inspirations for releasing the Zemanta API service. Yahoo is doing a fantastic job with its BOSS and SearchMonkey initiatives and knowing some guys on those teams I am sure we can expect even greater stuff in the future (albeit maybe under different parent company).
So are you willing to give Zemanta API a try? Please comment below!
