We are listening

HTTP File Server (HFS)Image from WikipediaAs some have noted we are eager to listen what you are saying about Zemanta service. We would like it to work like magic. Obviously we already addressed the biggest issue - Wodpress 2.5 support, but there are many more that are awaiting.
While I can’t tell you yet which features we will implement, I can do a quick summary of what, it seems, are the most requested features:

  • Browsing through images and articles.
  • LiveWriter plugin (this was massive)
  • Zemanta logo at the bottom of posts being optional
  • More links to different sites (apart from Wikipedia)
  • Ability to prefer your old posts and blogs from the blogroll
  • Spanish, German, Swedish, Chinese, Arabic, Hindii and other languages support
  • Cleaner and nicer HTML we insert

Please post more feature requests as comments to this post. And please let your imagination free, don’t be afraid to dream about what Zemanta can bring.

  1. Hey guy this isn’t really a request for a feature. It’s a bug report.

The moment I edited the “zemified” post related area section disappeared. And I didn’t manage to get it back. Also at first links that Zemanta contributed in text were not visible but i managed to add them as they were offered again.

  2. Hmmm, will try to solve it. Can you tell us which platform you use for blogging, do you use any special features (draft.blogger.com for example), browser version also…

Hmmm could it happen that you clicked on the title of the dropdown box with related articles and it folded up?

  3. A biggie bobiggie… Firefox 3 Beta 5 support. I assume you already work on it, but it doesn’t know that and disables the plugin upon upgrade.

My second concern is that the links all seem to be in the first paragraph or two of my post (cf. this). I almost assume this only applies when I save it too early… I dunno…

    Thanks.

  5. Now for Firefox 3.0beta5 support

Second! Darn I just learned to love it!

Also I’d love more Canadian content and the ability to add pics in more than one spot without having to copy paste code.

  6. Some more canadian content now in index. April thank you for pointing out this deficiency.

  8. Great concept, but I am having lots of problems using it. My blog is on blogger, and I use Firefox 2.0.0.13. I often get “Ooops something went wrong” messages. Sometimes, I see the suggested links and tags but can’t apply them (nothing happens). I have disabled adblock plus and allowed pop ups. What’s wrong here?

  9. […] like the basic features so far, but they are pushing new functionality based on user feedback. Now, this is pretty cool and all, but I am wondering about their business […]

  12. Some kind of profiling would be nice. So I can put few pages on the top of the list. And include pages I visit.

If this is implemented can you tell me how to use it.

  13. @christoos: not yet, but it’s high on our TODO.

  14. I would like to have the tags Zemanta is using for a reference able to be manually removed or add to. Sometimes Zemanta is not “getting what I am playing down” so I usually add keywords to my blog that I remove after it finds stuff for me.

Also - the same it true for extra words. I use a friends name “nick” all the time and it tends to give me nickelodeon stuff. Same with Google - if you add that…you get all google stuff. If I could remove tags Zemanta is indexing - that would be very cool.

  15. @tom:
Can you point us to a few problematic pieces of your content so we can try it out ourselves and hopefully find a way to improve.

  16. 2 big ones are “nick” and “google”.

Nick is a friend’s name. When I put it in I get tons of Nickelodeon - if I put his last name it seems to help. But then I forget to take it out after I add it! :)

As far as google - if you get anywhere near google - all suggestions are all google all the time.

cool - please take this as constructive…I love the tool.

  17. I work through the pictures pretty quick. Can we either enter additional keywords for the picture search or maybe better, when we click for a refresh, not get the same pictures again, but new each time. Relevance is not critical.

  18. I’d like to be able to add more than one picture that’s being suggested to me. The pictures could arrange into a gallery or be scattered throughout the post, depending on author’s preferences.

  19. daniel, it’s on the “to do” list and we’re working on getting there. I especially like the gallery idea.
