SXSW first timer

This is my first time at SXSW, so here’s what it is: It’s fantastic and awful at the same time. It’s center of the tech world for a week, but completely detached from the real world.
Foursquare and Gowalla are bigger than Facebook. Windows Phone 7 Series is taking over the world (or at least over Blogger’s lounge). And everyone I speak to knows what Zemanta is and half of them use it.
Blogging, tweeting & checking-in are all complimenting each other. And panels serve as points of reference as to what you would go listen to if you actually would be going to any panels and presentations at all.

Information overload hasn’t been solved yet and news-oriented old media is still in a free fall. Going to evening events is a wonderfully confusing mix of planning, serendipity? and mostly being a follower of someone who knows (or speculates) where everybody else is.
Oh and there’s more, but maybe for some other time.
