Opening NYC Office

When Andraz and I started Zemanta almost two years ago, we thought it would be a European venture, because that was the world we had known our way around. Going to London for Seedcamp07 was a big jump for us and a bridge to english-speaking markets at large. Being present in London exposed us to the pan-european business and idea hub and broadened our horizons.
We realized that the web is indeed virtual, as long as we talked about users. A majority of our business contacts at the time were in the US, where web services were ‘invented’; also the largest media companies and other major content-based ventures are either in SF Bay Area, the East coast, or Boulder, CO. If nothing else, scheduling late phone calls became painful, not to mention catching all those parties…
That is why we decided to open an office in New York City, with Jim Hirshfield in charge of business development, and myself to help him get up to speed on progress to date and bridge the communications with development back home.
So, if you are based in NYC, nearby towns, visiting or passing by, let me know. I’ll be happy to chat about Zemanta, business, future tech and other means of taking over the world
