Zemanta is proud to announce the first major upgrade of our service, expanding our reach with new plugins and improving the suggestions by supporting new semantic types. Altogether we are announcing 5 new features:

More platforms
We are releasing the plugin for Internet Explorer, enabling the majority of internet users to enhance their blogging experience.
We have made sure our extension is compatible with the popular Social web browser Flock, bringing it to all their power users.
In other big news, we’re introducing the first release of server-side plugins for Wordpress 2.5 and MovableType 4.1. This will allow all keepers of self-hosted blogs and multi-blog installations to enable Zemanta functionality for their bloggers.

Please note that due to some very strange behaviour, LiveJournal support is currently switched off for IE users. We hope we will be able to fix this soon.

More content
A couple of weeks ago, we’ve already released the most requested feature – more pictures and articles in a nice browsing interface that shows complete history of suggestions. Now we are expanding the link suggestions.
When applicable, we will suggest geo-tags linking to Google Maps, links to YouTube videos, IMDB biographies and Amazon books.

More control
Users will now have basic control over functionality. Most importantly, they’ll have the option to include their own Amazon affiliate ID, which we will use when suggesting Amazon links.

More insight
There is a new section on our web site called Popular, which shows articles that were suggested the most in the last few hours. It presents an interesting insight into what is hot within our community. Recent events like the China Earthquake can be detected through increased blogging activity in just a few hours.

Reblog
We are introducing a groundbreaking new feature called Reblog that will enable bloggers to easily quote other blogs. The tool will be available through a button under each post that was published with our assistance.
Readers will be presented with an interface that will help them quote the original post with proper reference, full Zemanta experience and an easy way to publish on their own blog.

SixApart cooperation
We are happy to begin close cooperation with SixApart to bring a better Zemanta experience to users of SixApart platforms Typepad and Movable Type. As a result of our collaboration we are releasing the standalone Movable Type plugin and providing support for upcoming features in Typepad beta.
