New Job Opening at Zemanta – Sales Executive, New York

Zemanta is looking for a full-time, seasoned sales executive for work in our New York City based office. An ideal candidate has recent experience with digital media sales and business development, digital marketing, with special consideration to those who have sold/worked with SEM, SMO, SEO. (S)he has a keen interest in social media applications, blogs, APIs, the tech start up world, and is passionate about strategy and execution of innovative business models in the space.

Responsibilities and Skills

  • Report to NYC-based VP of Sales
  • Agressively build sales pipeline via cold calling and existing relationships with little in bound assistance
  • Can meet and strives to exceed aggressive monthly/quarterly/annual sales goals
  • Is familiar with and can leverage Salesforce/PipeLine Deals/or other CRM to track progress of sales funnel
  • Meet with VP of Sales on a regular basis to review progress and discuss strategy
  • Forge new partnerships with publishers and other strategic partners, and help cultivate current relationships
  • Attend industry conferences in both NYC and throughout the US
  • Produce and deliver marketing and communications materials
  • Identify opportunities and refine strategy for new and existing commercial products
  • Help streamline and improve business processes, including CRM, internal performance tracking and account management
  • Help raise awareness for new businesses and brand in general
  • Attend periodic update meetings with lead investor, Union Square Ventures

About You

  • A scrappy self-starter – you are willing and capable of adding value literally from minute 1 and running with something yourself, but you know when and how to gain valuable input from others
  • You enjoy the sales process and can manage a sales pipeline, from prospecting to pitching to negotiation to execution and account management and you have existing online publisher and agency relationships to draw from
  • You have 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in online sales and business development and digital marketing
  • Have a proven track record of sales success
  • Are comfortable traveling and attending industry conferences. You’re a natural networker; you can represent the company and advocate in a memorable yet authentic manner
  • You can think creatively about trends and emerging business models, and can also ground your thinking in logic and market realities
  • Tech culture and startup life are things that you’re naturally drawn to, and you love to keep up with the latest in the industry via blogs, social media and new applications that you like to test out for yourself
  • You probably hold a BA/BS and potentially an MBA, with coursework in marketing, computer science or entrepreneurship a plus
  • You are rock-solid dependable and can be highly productive, even within a fairly unstructured working environment and malleable schedule, including periodic travel
  • You like a good laugh and can relate equally well to sandals and suits
