Source: WikipediaYesterday we had a splendid launch party at Zemanta HQ (with salsa dancing), now we awake into a new morning where we are excitingly waiting for reviews from around the blogosphere.

Yeah, we got it to TechCrunch!
But others are also important from Marko Mrdjenovič, Had (in Slovenian), and some more and more.

Well dear reader, where’s your review?

Oh, among other news, tomorrow (friday the 28th), we will also be present on Minibar in London, talk to us! Oh, and we would not mind people digging us up.

  6. I started using Zemanta tonight and appreciate the relative content it produced. One thing I did not appreciate was the fact that you autogenerated a link in the base of my post.

As a blogger (with some good traffic), I would have been glad to promote your service. However, not being aware that you were going to manipulate my post without me realizing it peeved me a bit.

I’d appreciate if you’d provide an option to remove the auto-generated link in the post, otherwise I’ll be uninstalling the add-in.

    Regards,
    Doug

  9. I’d like to write about the autogenerated icon we put into blogs.

First we’d like to assure you (and everybody - I’ll put this into FAQ
immediately) that it is perfectly alright to remove the image whenever
    you want.

We need some publicity (a struggling startup as we are) so we decided to
put the image in every time when a blogger uses our tool. But the
blogger is allowed to remove that image.

We are going to seriously think about how to strike a good balance, maybe adding an option to control it. Expect something on that topic one or two iterations further.

  19. Just started to use Zemanta (like an hour ago) and I already like it. It’s a great help in doing common blogging tasks that otherwise take ages. But of course there’s one thing I’d like: Localization. If the post is in german it should link to german articles (and maybe the german Wikipedia). But it already is a great product!

  20. I leave my spanish review about Zemanta:
    http://www.dreig.eu/caparazon/2008/03/28/zemanta-un-complemento-ideal-para-redactar-nuestros-posts-semanticos/

To the thread of the new subject initiated on the semantic Web, on that we will continue writing, a new extension for Firefox is born, that complementing our blogger, wordpress.com or wordpress.org blogs will allow to apply us semantic criteria to be watching, while we wrote up, what articles and photographies are related to the content that we are going to transmit. There was a wordpress plugin similar in functions, that applies criteria to find connections related in all the Web (Sphere related content). The problem of all these tools on the present time is that they are thought for english writed content, but its potential is incredible for this new Web´s construction. Also it can turn out useful to create our own network of friendly or compatible sources. As an example, this post has been written using it: Both links to Zemanta have appeared almost automatically, as well as the image corresponding to that navigator´s logotip. The idiomatic problem has appeared on some quite strange suggestions until this line, from which I can leave you the results of the use of the tool as far as these related articles coherently.

  21. This is very interesting!

It might be cool if Zemanta would also suggest some quotes, as these can be another nice way to illustrate an article.

  22. I downloaded in to work with Flock and my Wordpress blog. I works great.

I got round the lack of Live Writer plugin for now. I write in Live Writer and use all their plugins then publish post to Wordpress as a draft then I can add in the Zemanta items I want.

I feel it will certainly enrich my blogging experience. I have written a short review on my blog.

  23. Hey Zemanta,

I commend you for putting your blog enhancement technology together! It looks really nice in the demo.

I will have to say that when I tried it, it mis-tagged by article, it matched up completely inappropriate pictures, was hard to make edits and changes, the links it recommended were completely off and unusable, and connected my blog back to an irrelevant bar in L.A. You guys obviously have a lot of work ahead to get your enhancements to a place that provides the user experience you intended in your vision.

    Feel free to contact me.

    Thanks.

    Caroline

    Comment by Caroline A. — 29. Mar, 2008 @ 23:34

  24. Yep,

Still trying to remove the erroneous tags and add some of my own. Also, the picture I added in to go with my article was mis-sized, there was no way to accredit the photo, and the text flowed under the photo, making my article look god awful. As you can imagine, I will be removing zemanta, if you don’t make these changes.

I also agree with the post above. You should not be distorting the integrity of my post for some other purpose you have in mind. My post should be enhanced and be a better piece of reading material and be found. If you can’t stay true to what users want, you will not survive. Sorry to be harsh, but I’m sure little fixes like the ones I’m suggesting, will pay off in a broader launch.

    -C.

  25. I think its great; but now I’m rolling WordPress 2.5 and its not working :(

    Comment by Dave — 30. Mar, 2008 @ 9:29

  26. Caroline, we will definitely try to fix some of the things you are reporting in next iteration!

Also please send us a text that we did poor job on, so we can see how to improve on that type of content.

Dave: We are trying day and night to get the WP 2.5 version out ASAP. It brings quite a lot of change so it is no small task, but be patient, it should be out shortly.

Jens: About localisation. Right now we first have to make english version even better and then localisations to different languages could come into play. I know it is not an answer you wanted to hear, but trust me we do know how you feel - we come from Slovenia and almost every service on the planet ignores our language.

Dreig: thanks for noticing that spam. We are removing it immediately from our database!

Well, I’ll probably write a summary article about what early feedback blogers like you wanted from our service and then stop reading every single review on the blogosphere and get back to coding to make the service even better! :)

Thank you all for trying us out!

    bye

  28. Andraz,

Thanks for stopping by my blog to introduce yourself. Zemanta really is a timesaver! Someone mentioned earlier in the comments here that they have it working on Flock but I searched the flock extensions and didn’t find it. Can you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!
