February ’09 release: Fresh related articles, better YouTube and Google Maps support
Posted by jure, under releases on February 26th, 2009
Continuing our quest for innovation and listening to use feedback we bring you our next update to Zemanta. This time we focused on three areas: fresh related articles for your published blogs, better support for YouTube and Google Maps and general improvements to our email integration.
Until now, related articles stayed the same in your blog post as the blogosphere continued to write about the topic. With this new feature you’ll see a link at the bottom of your new blog posts:

It retrieves 5 fresh articles that are not already included in the post. This feature works on all platforms that support inclusion of JavaScript in blog posts: self hosted WordPress.org, Blogger, TypePad and MovableType among others.
We’re not including this if you’re on WordPress.com or are blogging through LiveWriter because including JavaScripts is not supported by these platforms.
Second update is that we support now rich object inclusion on WordPress.com and Movable Type in addition to self hosted WordPress.org and Blogger. This means that you’ll now see YouTube videos and Google Maps in your gallery:

We also made a few small changes to the widget. Filter is now called “search” and it’s always open. This change was made because a lot of you told us that it was hard to find and that naming didn’t make sense to you. Let us know if this works better for you:

Other notable changes include better support for Gmail and Y!Mail as well as general speed improvements to the widget. On plugin front we fixed compatibility issues with qTranslate and WordPress 2.7.
